I’m considering switching to a company like Metromile that actually rewards people for good driving, or maybe Progressive’s Snapshot program. I don’t like that my State Farm rates keep going up for no reason, even though I’ve had no tickets or claims in 30 years.

I used to pay around $7000 a year for my parents’ home insurance with Chubb, but they switched to another company and now pay $2500 for the same coverage. Their car insurance with Chubb was also way too high compared to other companies with the same coverage. This shows that even “high-end” insurers can be much more expensive.

I’m in Tampa, Florida, and I personally use Amica, paying about $400 a month for auto insurance on a Honda Passport and a Toyota 4Runner. I’m happy with their service, especially after hitting a wild hog and having them take care of the repairs and a rental car. Getting multiple quotes is definitely a good idea.
