Hey community members, my car insurance rates just went up again, and I’m wondering if this is happening to everyone. I’ve been with the same company for years, but these increases are getting hard to manage. For those who have switched recently due to price hikes or other issues, who did you go with and why? Any advice on finding a better deal would be greatly appreciated!

I was with Geico, and my monthly bill jumped up by 41% for an older, less expensive car compared to my previous truck. They gave me the same excuse about rising car values and healthcare costs. I decided to start looking elsewhere because that kind of increase felt unreasonable.

After my Geico premium increased by 23% for my six-month policy in Virginia, even with a spotless driving record, I decided to shop around. I ended up switching to Erie and got a policy that was almost 50% cheaper for the same or even slightly better coverage.

I used to pay $229 per month with State Farm in California for my 2022 Honda. When I checked Geico, they quoted me $70 less per month, so I’m seriously considering switching to save that money.

My six-month Geico bill was going to be $2800, but when I got a quote from Progressive for the same coverage, it came out to be $1800, a solid $1000 less. Geico couldn’t even come close to matching that price when I called them back.
