Hey everyone, I’m thinking about getting pet insurance for my dog and Embrace is one of the companies I’m looking at. I’ve been reading online and seeing some mixed reviews, especially on Reddit, about them denying claims and raising prices. For those of you who have experience with Embrace, could you share if you think it’s been a good value? Have you had trouble getting claims paid or have your monthly payments gone up a lot? Thanks for any help!

I signed up my two cats with Embrace and in just two years, even though they were healthy and I never made a claim, the price for their monthly payments went way up. My female cat’s went from $13 to $19 a month, and my male’s jumped from $16 to $28 a month. That’s a big increase for nothing!

I had a really frustrating time with Embrace. When my one-year-old dog had his first checkup, the vet noted “minimal calculus” on his back teeth, like a normal tiny bit of tartar. Embrace used this to say he had “periodontal disease” and now they won’t cover anything in his mouth unless I pay for a full $600 teeth cleaning myself, even though my vet said it’s not needed. It feels like they look for any tiny thing to avoid paying.

I’ve had Embrace for my dog and when he swallowed a whole antler and needed emergency surgery that cost over $11,000, Embrace paid the claims quickly and didn’t deny anything. Before that, they also covered thousands in vet bills when my previous dog had cancer. So, for me, when big things happened, they were there.

I looked into Embrace, but a friend told me about Trupanion. With Trupanion, if your pet has a health issue, you pay your deductible once for that specific problem, and then they cover what they’re supposed to for the rest of your pet’s life. With Embrace, it sounds like you have to pay your deductible every year, even for the same ongoing condition. That could really add up!
