I switched to Lemonade car insurance because their quote was significantly cheaper than my previous GEICO policy. For about 1200 miles a month, Lemonade quoted me $160 a month with better coverage, including towing, compared to $180 a month with Progressive. I have a clean driving history, so the savings were substantial for me upfront, but I haven’t had to file a claim yet to see how that goes.

I used Lemonade renters insurance when my apartment was broken into, and they had fast and friendly responses. I filed a claim through their app by recording a video and providing a police report, and the deposit hit my account about a week later. It was the only renters insurance I’ve ever used, and the process seemed pretty straightforward for me.

After being with Metromile for years, which Lemonade bought, I’ve seen my rates go up by 30-50 percent. Plus, the app isn’t as good anymore; it doesn’t show the tracking of trips and potential car issues as Metromile did, just a lump sum of miles, making me feel like it might be a scam. I’m actively looking for another car insurance provider because of these changes.

As someone who had a horrible experience with a Lemonade car insurance claim after my car was hit by someone else with GEICO, even though the other driver was 100 percent at fault, GEICO denied my claim based on the other driver’s lie. While this wasn’t directly Lemonade’s fault, it highlighted how important good claim handling is, and some Lemonade users have reported similar difficulties getting their claims processed correctly.

I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about big price hikes with Lemonade pet insurance. One person’s monthly premium for their cat jumped from $44 to $77, a substantial increase even though Lemonade had covered some previous issues. This makes me wary of their initial low prices, as they might significantly increase after a while, especially if you file any claims.
