I’m looking into getting renters insurance, and Lemonade keeps popping up with really low prices. Their app and sign-up process look super easy, which makes me a bit suspicious. Has anyone actually filed a claim with them? What was your experience like? Did they pay out quickly, or did you run into problems? I’d love to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly before I decide if their low cost is worth the risk.

I used Lemonade for a few years during college, and it was awesome and easy. When I had to file a claim for a damaged phone, the whole process was straightforward through their app. I just uploaded pictures and a video explaining what happened, and I never had to call anyone. They actually covered the damages, and my premium didn’t go up afterwards.

When a tornado hit my apartment complex back in 2020, I had Lemonade, and they were very easy to deal with. While I didn’t provide specific numbers, the process was smooth and they helped me after a significant event. This made me feel like they were there when it really mattered.

I tested out their quote process, and the lowest deductible I could initially get was $1000, which I couldn’t adjust. I had to contact their chat support, and they said I could adjust it after paying, but I found it weird that I couldn’t get a full quote with my preferred deductible without paying first. This lack of transparency made me uncomfortable, and I ended up canceling my plan immediately.

I’ve been using Lemonade for almost two years, paying about $13 monthly. I recently got mugged and filed a claim for my stolen phone and laptop. I submitted a police report and a quick video explaining what happened, and they paid out the full amount minus my $500 deductible super fast. I’d give their claims process a 10/10.
