My car insurance bill just jumped up by over $40 a month because I’m now driving to the office after working from home for years. I live in Miami, Florida, and I’m a 65-year-old looking for full coverage that won’t break the bank. I’ve gotten quotes from some of the big names, but the prices are all over the place. Who do you guys actually use and find affordable while still having decent coverage when things go wrong? Any real-life experiences and numbers would be a huge help!
I was in a similar boat when my low-mileage discount disappeared. I checked around and found that Progressive was $30 cheaper than State Farm and $40 cheaper than Allstate for the same coverage. It’s definitely worth getting a quote from them to see if they can beat what you’re currently paying.
When I was looking for cheaper insurance, Liberty Mutual was the cheapest for me, and I also bundled my renters insurance with them. You should really do your own comparison based on your Coconut Grove location, though, as prices can change a lot depending on where you live.
I used to pay $2800 every six months with Geico, but after they raised my rates, I switched to Progressive and now my six-month bill is $1800 for the exact same coverage. That’s a solid $1000 less per year, so definitely shop around beyond just the initial big names.
Don’t forget to check out smaller companies you might not have heard of. I found Plymouth Rock and even though I qualify for a teacher discount at $93 a month for full coverage (the regular rate would be $161), it might be worth a call for you, even if you’re not a teacher. However, they might only service states in the Northeast.
