Based on what others have shared, there are a few key symptoms to watch out for if you suspect a failing front wheel bearing. These include a humming noise that seems to come from the wheel area and often gets louder with speed, a whirling or grinding noise, and even a rotational “wump wump wump” sound. One helpful tip I saw was to jack up the wheel and check for any play or a grinding sound when spinning it.

When one front wheel bearing goes bad, it raises the question of whether to replace just that one or both.

The general consensus seems to be that it’s often a good idea to replace both front wheel bearings at the same time. One reason for this is that if one bearing has failed, the other might be nearing the end of its lifespan as well.
